Name: NOELLE

(Click on photo for additional pictures)

"Noelle" is being sponsored by Randi.

Female

Black & White
Age: 1-2 years old.
Size: Medium

NOELLE is a small 1-to-2-year-old girl, weighing under 30 pounds.  She could stand to gain some weight, but she burns off the calories playing ball & running & playing ball.  She loves to play; she is wicked fast; & she is extremely agile.  She would love to learn a dog sport like agility or flyball, or to be someone's running partner.  Noelle loves people & picks things up quickly.  She is very treat-&-toy-motivated.  She can be reactive to some dogs when she first meets them, but she responds well to redirection & correction, calling off. And then she gets along nicely.  She would not be good with cats.  Noelle is crate-trained & hasn't had an accident in her foster home.  She seems to have had some training, as she knows the "sit" command, & when she plays "fetch" with a tennis ball--which she will do until her ball thrower's arm falls off--she always returns the ball, bringing it to her handler's lap or dropping it right in front of her handler's feet.

To learn more about this darling girl, you must have an approved application on file.  To inquire about adopting her, contact Jeanne at bellestarrgang@gmail.com.

Male

Black & White
Age: 2 years old.
Size: Medium

McDuff (aka Duffy) is a 2-year-old boy, who loves to play.  He is happy & exuberant all the time!  He learns quickly & is really fast to try his new skills, offering behaviors that he thinks you might want.  McDuff loves people & gets along well with other dogs.  He is treat-&-toy motivated, so training with this dog will be easy & fun.  He is a fast runner, so he might make a great running partner.  He's also a nice size, weighing just under 40#, so he's easy to "pack around," & he rides nicely in his foster mom's van (in a crate, of course).  McDuff is crate-trained & hasn't had an accident in his foster home.

Name: IAN

(Click on photo for additional pictures)

"Ian" is being sponsored by Kamrin

Male

Black & White
Age: 1 year old.
Size: Medium

Ian is a gorgeous 1-year-old, cuddly sweetheart.  He even has a heart-shaped marking on his side!!  He's active, intelligent, & loving.  Ian will need daily exercise, & will have no problem going on as hardy & long of an adventure as you are up for, but he is also pretty mellow around the house (unless you pick up a leash!)  He is a little bit worried when he first has new experiences & meets new people, but he warms up very quickly & respond beautifully to treats & positive reinforcement.  In fact, with his desire to learn, his desire to please, & his love of treats, Ian is a poster child for positive training!

Ian is good with other dogs, but we don't know about cats.  He is crate-trained & hasn't had an accident in his foster home.  He knows basic commands like "sit," "down," & "here."

All in all, Ian is a sweet, fun-loving, yet tender soul who would love to be someone's darling.

Male

Tri-Color
Age:  1 year old.
Size: Medium

Be sure to catch Wayne's video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKt39DIZdws

Wayne is a handsome energetic young pup who is ready to work.  He patrols our 2 acres daily and has been the "nanny" to our litter of foster puppies, keeping them in line and bringing them back to the pack when they stray.  Wayne was found with his friend and possibly brother, Bruce, at a local fire station. Wayne is about 46 pounds and is fully grown.  Wayne is very high energy guy, but is a very sweet boy that gets along great with other dogs and is also people oriented.  He is fast and agile and would probably excel at agility or herding or any high energy task you had for him.   He settles quickly in the house after a hard day of work and play and is content to lay at your feet.  Wayne is learning basic commands.  He is food motivated and with daily practice, should be easy to train.  He has not had any accidents in his foster home.  He is a very quick learner.  He would do best with an energetic or athletic family and would do best in a home without cats.

"Louie" is being fostered by Ian & Cheryl.

Male

Black & White
Age: Born around August 15, 2011
Size: Medium

Louie is about 5 months old.  He is a solid boy and weighed 30 lbs at last weigh in.  Louie loves to play ball and is learning his basic commands, "sit," "down," "stay" and "come."  He is also getting pretty good at "bang" where he rolls over on his back.  He has been very easy to train.  He can be a little shy at first, but quickly warms up to everyone he has met.  He loves to play and gets along well with the two adult male dogs and two adult female dogs we have.  He likes to play with our cat, but our cat also likes to play with him.  He is curious, but leaves the other unsociable cat alone.  He does well on a leash, though we have not had much of an opportunity to take him for walks.   Louie is always on the move and will require room to run and an active family.  He has not had any accidents during his house training and has free run of the house as long as we are home.  Louie is crate trained.  When we have to leave, we tell him to "go lay down" and he goes to his crate and he currently sleeps in his crate.  Louie is a smart boy and should have no problems adjusting a new environment.

To be considered for Louie, you must have an approved application on file.  For more information please email zombies0722@gmail.com

Name: SHADOW

(Click on photo for additional pictures)

"Shadow" is now being sponsored by Willy (former rescue name, Julio), Nancy Jane, and David

Male

Black & White
Age: 1 year old.
Size: Medium

Shadow is a 1-year-old black bean!  He's thin & slinky in his movement.  He's a soft, gentle dog, who loves to have his belly rubbed & to "shadow" his foster mom in the house & yard.  Shadow is quiet as a mouse & is submissive with the other dogs; he gets along with them well, but prefers people.  He is well-mannered & has a nice desire to please, & he is treat-motivated.  He will benefit from training to develop further confidence.  Even with his soft nature, he accepts strangers & doesn't shrink back.  He just wants to figure out the right thing to do.  In other words, he is soft, but not fearful.  Shadow is crate-trained & has not had an accident in his foster home.

Name: WILEY

(Click on photo for additional pictures)

The Lockwood's, from Idaho, are now sponsoring Wiley.

Male

Black & White
Age: 1 year old.
Size: Medium

Wiley is a gorgeous & wonderfully entertaining 1-year-old boy. He is happy all the time, loves to play, especially with toys & with the water coming out of the hose.  That said, when he gets too keen on an activity like playing with the water in the hose, he loses focus & gets kind of obsessive.  He is utterly social with people & with other dogs & has a great level of confidence. He's a busy boy & will need lots of interesting things to do, & he has a nice desire to please, which will make training fun. Wiley is crate-trained; he did a little leg-lifting when he first came into rescue, but he's been recently neutered & is quickly picking up that this is not appropriate. He is not a barker. Wiley would be a wonderful dog to train in agility or flyball. He would love anything you'd want to do with him. Because Wiley loves doing things with his people, he is best suited for a home where he will do more than go for walks.

He is quite keen about livestock & does not listen to a recall when he is around them.  He needs to go to a home without livestock.  Because Wiley has drive that needs to be channeled, he needs someone who has BC experience, someone who will give him clear direction & will work with him to provide appropriate outlet for him, teaching him how to redirect.  He is not a dog that will do well left outside on his own. Wiley is neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative & on heartworm preventative.

To learn more about WILEY, you must have an approved application on file.  To inquire about adopting him, email Jeanne at bellestarrgang@gmail.com.

Wiley is being fostered north of Sacramento.

Name: EDIE

(Click on photo for additional pictures)

"Edie" is now being sponsored "on behalf and in memory of little Ginger, my constant companion for 12 years"

Female

Black & White
Age: 8 years old.
Size: Medium

EDIE is a lovely Border Collie/shepherd mix girl. The vets who have
cared for her estimate her age to be about 8-years-old. Edie was found
trapped in a ditch out in the country. Animal Control suspects she may
have fallen out of the back of a truck. She has bounced back
beautifully!!! She has no lingering effects. Edie has taken to her new
life in rescue with great heart & joy. She has a wonderful temperament
& playful attitude. She enjoys toys, people, other dogs; she gets
along fine with cats. Edie is housebroken, crate-trained, & quiet. She
loves attention. She loves walks & to stretch out in the sun. This dog
has such a wonderful, gentle disposition & is such a good girl that we
have to believe she was loved in her previous life. She was already
spayed & heartworm negative. She's now current on her vaccinations,
wormed, & on heartworm preventative. This dog is so worth all the love
& attention she is now getting in her life. She loves life & will
brighten the spirit of anyone she meets. The person(s) who adopt her
will be richly rewarded by her presence.

To learn more about this darling girl, you must have an approved application on file.  To inquire about adopting her, email Jeanne at bellestarrgang@gmail.com.

Name: CHRISSY

CHRISTMAS

(Click on picture for more photos)

"Chrissy" is now being sponsored by Mark.

Female

Black & White
Age: Born ~10/26/11
Size: Medium

CHRISSY is an adorable little pup.  She will have a medium to long coat when mature.  She loves to play with toys and other dogs.

CHRISSY and her littermates had a rough start.  They were left in a parking lot in a cardboard box by their uncaring previous owners!  It was two days before anyone realized there were pups in the box.  They were about 2 1/2 - 3 weeks old at that time and the person who found them called animal control.  Once animal control had the pups they called our rescue to see if we could take them.  The puppies never had to go to a shelter, which is a good thing.  They learned how to eat solid food when they were in a temporary foster home and then came to our rescue a few days later.

CHRISSY is a very healthy and happy pup and she is good about using a doggy door.   Now we are starting to crate train her.

Age: Born ~10/21/11

BLACKWATCH is an outgoing pup who loves people.  He has an easy care short coat.  It's hard to tell what other breed is in this pup.

BW is the son of a purebred Border Collie mom and was born on a working ranch.  It looks like some of the neighbors dogs came to visit the mom though, so we're not sure what the father looked like.  He is very smart, loves to play with toys and other dogs.  He uses a doggy door and is very good about going outside to do his "business".

If you do not have an approved application on file, that is your first step toward adopting any of our dogs.  Once you have submitted an application, please email bcsaver@aol.com.  We can then set up an appointment to meet with you.

Because BW is from working parents, we are not considering adoptive homes who have children under the age of 10.  Why?  Click here:  "Do I Really Want a Border Collie"

HOUNDSTOOTH is a loving pup who likes to stay close to his people.  He has an easy care short coat.  He is mainly black and tan with beautiful brindle coloring on his legs.  It's hard to tell what other breed is in this cute pup.  He has long ears and muzzle so he could have some hound in him.

Name: LANCE

(Click on picture for more photos)

"Lance" is being sponsored in honor of sweet Daisy!

Male

Black & White
Age: 10 years old
Size: Medium

Don’t let his age fool you; Lance is very active, fun, and loveable. Lance is a retired goose chaser and now, sadly, he comes to the rescue as an orphan.  His foster parents like to call him "Sir Lance Love-a-Lot." Lance loves to snuggle and likes to consider himself a house-dog. He is able to entertain himself with stuffed toys or chewies but will be ready when you want to go for a walk or hike (and he doesn’t pull on the leash).  He would make a great companion dog.  Lance has always been around other dogs and has not shown any aggression towards anything but would probably be happy being an only dog so he can hog all the affection.  He has cats at his foster family’s home (note: these cats are used to and not afraid of dogs and will not run from them).  Even though he has not been aggressive with the cats and may have a crush on one of them, he won’t leave them alone so a house with cats is probably not a good idea but not a deal breaker either.  He is very good riding in cars and very sociable and not demanding.

If you'd like to meet Lance, you must have an approved application on file.  To learn more about him, please email janet@rismith.com or call 510-440-9194

Lance is being fostered in Hayward.
