IS YOUR BORDER COLLIE LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME?
We realize that sometimes circumstances change, and you need to find a new home for your dog. We can help in two ways. First, if it is an emergency situation and if we have a foster home available, we can take your dog into our rescue program. We try to only take PUREBRED BORDER COLLIES into our foster homes. The dogs don't need papers, but they do need to look purebred. PLEASE NOTE: We will always take a dog back into our rescue if they were originally adopted from us, regardless of whether they are purebred or mixed. We sometimes adopt mixed puppies to applicants as it's difficult to tell if they're purebred when they are very young. Once a dog has been in our rescue though, they will always be given the opportunity to return, if necessary. Relinquished dogs must be spayed or neutered and up to date on their vaccinations. Secondly, if this isn't an emergency or if you have a BORDER COLLIE MIX, we will be happy to place your dog's picture and description on the OWNER'S PAGE of our website and prospective adopters contact you directly. This is usually the best situation for the dog as they can stay in their familiar surroundings until a new home has been found. OUR FOSTER HOMES ARE USUALLY FULL. If you would like to be placed on a waiting list for a foster home, please submit the following application: SURRENDER APPLICATION WE WILL BE HAPPY TO PLACE YOUR DOG ON OUR WEBSITE WHILE YOU'RE WAITING FOR A FOSTER OPENING. PLEASE SEND THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION. TO PLACE YOUR DOG ON OUR WEBSITE, we will need the following: A good photo of the dog, a brief description about the likes and dislikes of the dog, the first name, phone number and email address of a contact person. We also need proof of spay or neuter, either a certificate from your veterinarian or your veterinarian's phone number (we will need the last name of the person the dog is listed under at the Animal Hospital so we can confirm the information). All of this information can be sent by email to bcrncinc@aol.com or you can snail mail it to: Border Collie Rescue P.O. Box 640 Castroville, CA 95012. SUGGESTION: For the best photos - try to take a picture of your dog from the dogs level. PLEASE NOTE: In the past, we have always offered this listing service for free. We are now planning to build a facility to house our rescue dogs. This facility will be for all purebred Border Collies that are in shelters or owner's dogs that need to be re-homed. We will now be requesting a $25.00 donation to list dogs on our website. This money will go into the building fund for our facility. You may send a check with your dog's information to our Post Office Box or if you are sending the information by email, you may send the listing donation by PayPal. For those who “can't keep their dog” because they are getting a divorce, moving to a place that "doesn't allow pets", and are going to "have" to take their pet to a pound because the kids no longer play with it.... This woman has been through a 9.0 earthquake, a killer tsunami, a nuclear power plant that is emitting radiation, has nowhere to live, is hungry and cold... and she STILL HAS HER DOG!!! She is a model of what it means to be a committed, loving pet owner.
