Meet  “Kaeli” –  14 months old Border Collie Mix
Kaeli is a beautiful, playful, bundle of puppy type energy.
She is not a couch potato.
People always comment on her long legs, slender figure and how fast she can run.
When she is at the dog park, she likes to chase and be chased and usually pairs herself up with the herding dogs.
Kaeli does like to chase balls and will bring them back.
She also likes to play with her Kong toys stuffed with treats.
She is much calmer in the home when she has had the chance to burn off some of her energy.
She is not a destructive chewer when left alone but likes to play with and tear napkins,
tissues or the odd piece of paper left laying around.

Initially Kaeli barked at everything while in the yard and in the house.
Kaeli's new family will need to have some patience with her while she settles in.
Gradually, she has learned what the normal sounds and activities of the neighborhood are and she has mellowed and so has the barking.

She is currently being fostered with a senior female dog
and an 8 year old male dog and doing well.
Sorry...no kids or cats please.

Kaeli is very intelligent girl and would thrive in a home where the human members of the pack follow training instructions with consistency to show her the good life in the human world and build a trusting and kind relationship with Kaeli using reward-based / positive reinforcement training techniques.

Meet Patoo, approximately 3 year old,  spayed, potty trained, beautiful female dog.

She was born in Vafa Animal Shelter in Iran,  and she has been fostered in a home
for the last 2 months here in SF Bay Area where she has been learning
some social skills and become potty trained.

Patoo is looking for a relatively quiet home  with adult household members and no other dogs,  as she is a shy dog and is happiest when people give her
space and time to warm up to them.

If you are looking for a dog to cuddle with on your bed and couch,
she is NOT the dog for you.
She is happy in her own bed, and will let you know when she is ready for some petting and attention,
however that may take weeks before it happens.

She is respectful towards cats and leaves them alone.
She likes to go on walks, and likes the dog park most of the time.
She'll even play fetch and play with other dogs at the dog park.

Patoo has some old injuries in her back leg (curable) and is going to need some TLC.

Here are some more pictures of Patoo:  http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8IaNmzRw3aKVNA

Tally: Australian Shepherd, Dog; Kanab, UT Tally: Australian Shepherd, Dog; Kanab, UT

Tally
Australian Shepherd/Border Collie Mix: An adoptable dog in Kanab, UT

Medium • Young • Female
Tally is a young aussie/border collie mix that was born approximately in November of 2010.

Tally would benefit from an active home that will continue to teach her appropriate house manners. She is very puppyish still and everything is a possible toy. Tally loves to wrestle and play with other dogs but can be sassy at high excitement times such as feeding, getting ready to go for a car ride or your arrival home. It usually only lasts for a couple of minutes and has mellowed as she has figured out our routines. Tally is also good with indoor cats.

Off leash, Tally is amazing about checking in between running with her doggie friends. She has gone on camping trips and loves the adventures, especially when you end up at a nice place to play in the water. Tally is working on her house and crate training, is vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed.

He is a fetch expert and does his best to play very politely. Chaz loves chasing things so much that he should not live in a home with cats! Chaz can be rude at first when he meets a new dog friend but would probably like having a buddy to play with in his new home. Chaz really wants a forever home and will do his best to make his new family happy! Adoption-$75

This is Bentley.  He is a cross between a Border Collie and Lab.  He had an accident with a car and broke his rear leg.  "Bentley" had surgery to fix his leg the first part of September 2010 and is doing wonderfully.  He is a sweet dog who loves everyone.  Bentley is between 18 months and 2 years of age.  He is a neutered male, fully vaccinated, and the first words out of the surgeon's mouth when I spoke to him about the surgery was "this is a really nice dog!"  He is very good with other dogs and he is very, very people oriented.  For more information about this great dog, please contact Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue at http://www.homewardboundgoldens.org

Pip NCAR #674
Five years ago we saved his life.
This Border Collie pup lived in a garage and never got out....ever. He ate,
slept and pooped in the garage. He was only 8 months old when we and some
kind neighbors were able to remove him from his terrible home.
He was completely freaked out in the house with my other dogs and looked for
dark places to hide.
He slowly came around, but he was uncertain about people at best.

Then came Laura to adopt him. She worked with him every day and found that
he loved playing Frisbee and in time, he gained confidence.
Here's a utube video of his performance in a Frisbee competition - he
placed!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPrrvpm0D_8&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Lately, he's gotten aggressive towards the 12 year old lab he's lived with.
No telling what's going on, but he can't be trusted with her. Sadly, Laura
felt she had no choice but to return Pip to us.

This is a great Border Collie and will do well with someone who will give
him plenty of mental stimulation and physical activy. Fostered in Grass
Valley. Contact Kim at kim@norcalaussierescue.com

Pepper has a "King of the Hill" way of approaching new situations that may be an issue with dominant-minded dogs - neutered. When challenged by another dog, he goes submissive. He plays fetch and responds to the squeaky toy. Good on leash. Have not yet tested with cats. Medium to high energy. Anxious at the fence, but is improving. Treat motivated. About 2 yrs.

Auburn Foster Home

The mom is Ziva. Ziva is very friendly and loves children and other dogs. She appears to have a bit of hound in her. She would benefit from training since it does not appear that she has had any. The shelter is estimating that Ziva is about 4 years old. She is currently at the Madera County Animal Shelter and would like to get out of jail as soon as possible. Her impound number is 3934. The Shelter's number is 559- 675-7891 but you can also contact her previous foster parents at 559-658-6316 for more information on her. Her adoption fee is $95.00 which includes her shots, a microchip and her spay surgery.

Name: Dino

Case #: A08309403

Gender: Neutered Male

Age: 1

Primary Breed: Border Collie

Secondary Breed: Mix

Color: Black & White

Adoption Fee: $75.00

Dino is a beautiful, energetic and happy young Border Collie mix who was brought to Butte Humane Society as a stray in August of 2009. He is playful and affectionate and will roll over on his back to get a belly rub. He enjoys being around people and is so excited to get out of his kennel and go for walks! Dino probably has not recieved any training or had much experience with other dogs. He pulls on the leash and does not respond to basic commands, but he is still young and very eager to learn. With other dogs, Dino is a little rude and would prefer to go to a home where he would be the only dog. Due to his energy level and jumping up, we recommend that he go to a family with children over the age of three. He would make an excellent match for a physically active home that can provide him with the exercise and attention he so craves. Adoption $75

These dogs are at the Butte Humane Society in Chico, you can reach Carrie at 530-343-7917 ext 104, or email at adoptions@buttehumane.org

Name: Hannah

Case #: A06413264r

Gender: Spayed Female

Age: 4

Primary Breed: Border Collie

Secondary Breed: Greyhound

Color: Black & White

Adoption Fee: $75.00

Hannah’s profile was written by her foster mom with whom she is currently staying. Approved adopters will be able to visit with Hannah:

The day that Hannah was returned to the shelter I was alone in the lobby. Her owners were completely beside themselves and crying. They told me they didn’t know how to help Hannah anymore. They loved her but they felt that she wasn’t in the best place she could be. I volunteered to take her home and foster her. Before I had a chance to take her, she damaged one of her back legs badly while trying to escape her kennel. Hannah does not like being confined, she feels unsafe and anxious when she is without people. We hoped that the muscle she tore would heal while she was at my house. Over the next two months my co-workers, roommates, and myself worked on Hannah’s many quirks. She paces when she panics, has small issues with dogs, and many fears pertaining to loud noise. We had a lot of success and Hannah grew to be a staff favorite as she was in the lobby with us every day.

When I took Hannah to her third visit to the vet he gave us two options; corrective surgery or amputation. The surgery wasn’t going to very effective so Hannah had her back right leg amputated. I am proud to say that she recovered beautifully from the amputation. It seemed the dead weight that was unattached from her body lifted her spirit higher than we’d ever seen. Soon after she had her stitches removed she made her first canine friend. My roommate’s amazing chocolate lab, that loves a tennis ball almost as much as wagging her tail, was the perfect friend for Hannah. They love a good game of fetch or keep away. As far as other dogs go, I would recommend that she doesn’t live with any until you get to know her better. We did also have a six month old foster puppy for a while that she got along with most of the time. We can introduce your dog though and see how it goes. Calm, people oriented dogs seem to be the best bet with Hannah.

Hannah still has a fear of loud noises (and always will) but we have found that she will relax after she gets to know her environment. As long as she’s not hurting herself, sometimes it’s better to let her pace. Hannah is very sweet and nothing brings a smile to your face like her little docked tail wiggling in joy at the prospect of outside time. But beware if you live in range of gun shots or loud bangs, Hannah will bolt on you. Hannah should do fine with children above the age of eight. She could knock younger kids over when she panics and she likes to put her paw on you when she’s happy. It seems cute but with only one back leg the paw can pack more of a wallop than intended. She is house trained. Hannah knows some basic commands but has a stubborn streak in her so it’s anyone’s guess if she actually knows them all. She’s a smart dog. I think she will pick up anything you want to teach her. I recommend that you have experience with either border collies and/or greyhounds. The best home for Hannah would be someone that is retired or works at home and can be with Hannah most, if not all, of the time. She is an excellent car companion and would travel well if you wanted to take her on vacation with you. Hannah also has a great respect for our feline friends and frankly is a little scared of them. She will be fine with any cats.

Hannah is a very special dog who needs a really special person to love her. She needs a relaxed, understanding place to call home. She will test your patience and incur many prime opportunities for a hair loss commercial but at the end of the day, she is so worth it. Adoption- $75
