Pepper has a "King
of the Hill" way of approaching new situations that may be an
issue with dominant-minded dogs - neutered. When challenged by
another dog, he goes submissive. He plays fetch and responds to the
squeaky toy. Good on leash. Have not yet tested with cats. Medium to
high energy. Anxious at the fence, but is improving. Treat
motivated. About 2 yrs.

Auburn Foster Home

Kahlua needs to find a new home......sadly her
current home isn't able to keep her, so sweet Kahlua
is searching for another loving home where she can
have fun being a border collie!
Kahlua is a 6 year old purebred female Border Collie
weighing about 45 pounds. She is spayed,
microchipped & current on her heartworm and flea
treatments. She loves to fetch tennis balls, frisbee
and will even herd a basketball/soccer ball. She
likes to play with the spray from the hose and
enjoys cooling off in a kiddie pool. She loves to go
for walks and although she's not a kisser, Kahlua is
very affectionate and is always looking to parlay a
few head scratches into an all out tummy rub. She is
very smart and well trained (house and crate) and
follows a multitude of commands. She is well behaved
as she doesn't dig in the yard or chew on anything
in the house. She stays off the furniture and even
lets us know if she needs to go outside and use the
bathroom with a whimper. She sleeps indoors but
spends a good amount of time outside. At night she
will sleep in a dog bed or crate and currently
sleeps in a wire kennel/crate indoors. She will go
in the crate on her own when she wants to go to bed,
as well as go in when she is told it is time.
Although she pretty much ignores our 1 year old boys
while moving thru the house, she seems a little
unsure and uneasy when approached by them so I'm not
sure a family with small toddlers would a good match
for Kahlua. She is not always friendly with cats and
other dogs as she has been an only dog' all her life
and would probably be best as the only pet in the
house. I think Kahlua would be a good match for
someone that wants an active dog that is already
well trained but smart enough to keep learning. She
would be a good fit for someone that enjoys playing
fetch and going for walks. She'd be a good match for
someone that doesn't mind showing affection with
some tummy rubs and head scratches but also
appreciates a dog that will just hang out in the
room as well.
Please email right away if you would like to learn
more about this dog......and visit our website
www.siarescuers.com to learn more about our rescue
group.
Adoption fees range from $150-$250 for dogs. THE
DOGS SHOWN ON THE SITE ARE IN FOSTERCARE - WE DO NOT
HAVE A SHELTER TO VISIT. EMAIL is the best way to
reach us.
We are a volunteer run, very small organization - so
please be patient when waiting for a response, but
feel free to check back in if you haven't heard from
us in a day or so - thank you so much for
considering a rescued pooch!
Kahlua! is up-to-date with routine shots, house
trained and spayed/neutered. For

Sandy is a year old Lemon Border Collie with a wonderful sweet
personality.
He was brought to a vet office where he was going to be euthanized after his
owners couldn’t afford to treat him. He was signed over to Deserving Pets
Rescue and is now a healthy boy. He is outgoing, friendly and happy just to
be around people. Sandy is a loyal, intelligent guy who has gets along
easily with other animals in his foster home. He plays great with other dogs
and enjoys games of chase and wrestling. He is very attentive and bonds
quickly with his person, always by their side. In the house, he has great
manners and also knows commands. He is housetrained, neutered, current on
vaccines and heartworm prevention. Contact Deserving Pets Rescue at
deservingpetsrescue@gmail.com
for adoption information.

Lucky is a four year old neutered male purebred Border Collie who came to
our shelter as an owner surrender. His family lost their home, and chose to
surrender Lucky and his sister Sheila to us in hopes we may be able to find
them a better situation. Sheila was very outgoing, friendly, and kind
hearted and we found her a home fairly quickly. Lucky was very nervous and
unsure around our staff, and would bare his teeth and growl at us when he
felt insecure, which was understandable in the beginning. He quickly became
more confident with us and with his environment, which made it much easier
for our staff to take him out to go potty and for walks. He is still very
frightened of strangers and certain staff members, and because of this his
behavior can only be described as unpredictable. He will still show his
teeth and growl at new people, and because of this and our inability for
just any one to move him around the shelter, he is pretty much unadoptable
at this facility. We do not have the qualified staff it takes to handle him,
and we do not have a trainer or training program to get him help in the
areas where he needs it. We currently have 10 indoor kennels, but Lucky is
sleeping outside in our outdoor concrete kennels where it floods and is
freezing because of his behavior and not being able to have the public walk
by him without an uproar. He is getting more and more kennel stressed
everyday, and we are desperate to find him a place to go. Our shelter does
not believe in euthanizing adoptable animals, so we have out hands tied, and
he will not move unless we find a foster/rescue. Lucky is a working dog and
is looking for an owner with a ranch or property with lots of room for him
to run. He likes other dogs, but does not do well with cats. NO KIDS!!! He
needs someone experienced with the breed and their behavior and temperament,
and someone who can commit to getting him training and managing these
behaviors throughout his life. He loves to play fetch, give hugs, and go for
walks. Anyone who is interested in Lucky is encouraged to call Shay at the
Healdsburg Animal Shelter in Healdsburg, Ca at 707-431-3386 x 0.
Thank you!!!!

The mom is Ziva. Ziva is very friendly and loves children and other
dogs. She appears to have a bit of hound in her. She would benefit from
training since it does not appear that she has had any. The shelter is
estimating that Ziva is about 4 years old. She is currently at the
Madera County Animal Shelter and would like to get out of jail as soon
as possible. Her impound number is 3934. The Shelter's number is 559-
675-7891 but you can also contact her previous foster parents at
559-658-6316 for more information on her. Her adoption fee is $95.00
which includes her shots, a microchip and her spay surgery.
Ziva's pups are about 3 months old and are all boys. We are guessing
that the dad may have been a Lab or Retriever. We are calling them
Ducky, McGee and Jethro. They are currently in foster care in Coarsegold
which is near the south entrance to Yosemite. Their adoption fee is
$95.00 which includes their first shots, a microchip and their neuter
surgery. Please contact their foster parents at 559-658-6316 if you are
interested in adopting any of them.

Luca
Luca is a 1-year-old, 50 pound black and white Border Collie mix and
resembles a small German Shepherd. He is a very happy, exuberant young guy
-- just brimming with life and love. LUCA has LOTS of energy and is very
active, typical of border collies. He calms down well inside the house after
getting enough exercise. He is also VERY dog social and gets along with
every dog he meets, which is not typical of many border collies. He would
love to have a playful dog in his new home. LUCA loves to go on off-leash
hikes in the hills, at the beach, or anywhere. He does need some work on his
re-call, but otherwise he is well behaved. He is obviously very smart and
would thrive on any type of training or agility work. For more
information please call 510-708-8258 or email
Pam.

JAKE NEEDS A HOME!
Jake
is a Border
Collie looking for a buddy. He is a young 8 year old, who is neutered,
heartworm
negative, and all shots up to date. He is currently being
fostered at Herding 4 Ewe in Vacaville, California.
His owner passed away last year and the family had no
place for him. He is a very sweet boy who
desperately wants to be someone’s companion. He is
crate trained, good in a kennel, but has never been in
a house.
Jake is eager to learn and willing to
please, so house training should not be a problem.
Since being fostered,
Jake
has learned basic manners. He was never
abused but had little or no
training prior to coming to Herding 4 Ewe. He still has a
lot of life in him and needs his own person to
love. If you know of anyone who would be willing to
give this happy boy the home he deserves
please
contact Debbie at

Name: Dino
Case #: A08309403
Gender: Neutered Male
Age: 1
Primary Breed: Border Collie
Secondary Breed: Mix
Color: Black & White
Adoption Fee: $75.00
Dino is a
beautiful, energetic and happy young Border Collie mix who was brought to
Butte Humane Society as a stray in August of 2009. He is playful and
affectionate and will roll over on his back to get a belly rub. He enjoys
being around people and is so excited to get out of his kennel and go for
walks! Dino probably has not recieved any training or had much experience
with other dogs. He pulls on the leash and does not respond to basic
commands, but he is still young and very eager to learn. With other dogs,
Dino is a little rude and would prefer to go to a home where he would be the
only dog. Due to his energy level and jumping up, we recommend that he go to
a family with children over the age of three. He would make an excellent
match for a physically active home that can provide him with the exercise
and attention he so craves. Adoption $75

Name: Hannah
Case #: A06413264r
Gender: Spayed Female
Age: 4
Primary Breed: Border Collie
Secondary Breed: Greyhound
Color: Black & White
Adoption Fee: $75.00
Hannah’s
profile was written by her foster mom with whom she is currently staying.
Approved adopters will be able to visit with Hannah:
The day that Hannah was returned to the shelter I was alone in the lobby.
Her owners were completely beside themselves and crying. They told me they
didn’t know how to help Hannah anymore. They loved her but they felt that
she wasn’t in the best place she could be. I volunteered to take her home
and foster her. Before I had a chance to take her, she damaged one of her
back legs badly while trying to escape her kennel. Hannah does not like
being confined, she feels unsafe and anxious when she is without people. We
hoped that the muscle she tore would heal while she was at my house. Over
the next two months my co-workers, roommates, and myself worked on Hannah’s
many quirks. She paces when she panics, has small issues with dogs, and many
fears pertaining to loud noise. We had a lot of success and Hannah grew to
be a staff favorite as she was in the lobby with us every day.
When I took Hannah to her third visit to the vet he gave us two options;
corrective surgery or amputation. The surgery wasn’t going to very effective
so Hannah had her back right leg amputated. I am proud to say that she
recovered beautifully from the amputation. It seemed the dead weight that
was unattached from her body lifted her spirit higher than we’d ever seen.
Soon after she had her stitches removed she made her first canine friend. My
roommate’s amazing chocolate lab, that loves a tennis ball almost as much as
wagging her tail, was the perfect friend for Hannah. They love a good game
of fetch or keep away. As far as other dogs go, I would recommend that she
doesn’t live with any until you get to know her better. We did also have a
six month old foster puppy for a while that she got along with most of the
time. We can introduce your dog though and see how it goes. Calm, people
oriented dogs seem to be the best bet with Hannah.
Hannah still has a fear of loud noises (and always will) but we have found
that she will relax after she gets to know her environment. As long as she’s
not hurting herself, sometimes it’s better to let her pace. Hannah is very
sweet and nothing brings a smile to your face like her little docked tail
wiggling in joy at the prospect of outside time. But beware if you live in
range of gun shots or loud bangs, Hannah will bolt on you. Hannah should do
fine with children above the age of eight. She could knock younger kids over
when she panics and she likes to put her paw on you when she’s happy. It
seems cute but with only one back leg the paw can pack more of a wallop than
intended. She is house trained. Hannah knows some basic commands but has a
stubborn streak in her so it’s anyone’s guess if she actually knows them
all. She’s a smart dog. I think she will pick up anything you want to teach
her. I recommend that you have experience with either border collies and/or
greyhounds. The best home for Hannah would be someone that is retired or
works at home and can be with Hannah most, if not all, of the time. She is
an excellent car companion and would travel well if you wanted to take her
on vacation with you. Hannah also has a great respect for our feline friends
and frankly is a little scared of them. She will be fine with any cats.
Hannah is a very special dog who needs a really special person to love her.
She needs a relaxed, understanding place to call home. She will test your
patience and incur many prime opportunities for a hair loss commercial but
at the end of the day, she is so worth it. Adoption- $75
